Village News – Matters of concern

20 Minute free parking
For those who may not have seen it, the Council have apparently instructed their traffic officials to allow vehicles displaying the 10 minute free P & D ticket a further 10 minutes free. This applies to the Village and to Wimbledon Park. All the usual exclusions apply. Users are advised to check!

“Wimbledon Civic Theatre Trust

Our most ambitious project “A Dickens of a Life” involving more than 250 young people from our community took place on the main stage of New Wimbledon Theatre this summer to celebrate the bicentenary of Charles Dickens. It was the culmination of an extensive six month outreach programme across 7 local schools and community groups in Merton. It was incorporated into the curriculum of the participating schools and taught new skills, both technical and social including puppetry, circus skills, marketing, back stage skills and of course performance. In addition we have run three very successful projects for disadvantaged young people including one for students identified as having communication difficulties, one for students with behavioural difficulties from a pupil referral unit and an anger management project for young people with learning difficulties.
We plan three more similar projects for later in the year.

The Holly Lodge Centre

The Holly Lodge Centre is based in Richmond Park and is first and foremost an educational centre for children and adults with special needs – both physical and intellectual.
