The number of UK districts where average property prices exceed £1m has climbed to 21 after four new areas joined the Golden Postcode Club last year.
The majority of the UK’s most expensive postcodes are in London, with East Sheen in south-west London and Chiswick in west London now joining the exclusive club that also includes Guildford and Cobham in Surrey.
The Golden Postcode Club makes up just 0.8% of the UK's 2,760 postcodes, according to data collected by property portal Zoopla, which also shows the number of areas where houses are now worth over £500,000 has jumped almost 25%. UK house prices rose by an average of £16,000 – or 8.5% – in 2014, according to mortgage lender Halifax.
