A luxury penthouse overlooking Hyde Park has been sold for a staggering £140 million, according to reports.

The flat's part of One Hyde Park – the ultra-luxury development built by property developing brothers Nick and Christian Candy. They were helped by Qatari Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabr al-Thani, who financially backed the project.

The individual who purchased the property has not been named – but it's thought he/she could be Russian or Ukrainian.

This beats the previous record of £136.4 million – the price of a flat sold to Rinat Akhmetov, Ukraine's richest man. The property was in the same development, which has 80 apartments. So far, One Hyde Park has made some £2 billion in sales.
