Why not get yourself along to this year’s Wimbledon BookFest? Currently in its eighth year, it’s a great chance to see a range of excellent authors, historians and television personalities talking fiction. With heavyweights such as Alexander McCall Smith, Colm Toibin and Victoria Hislop attending what’s not to like?
Historian David Starkey and Tracy Borman will also be there talking about all things Tudor, while Michael Rosen will be looking at poetry and protest. Broadcaster Clare Balding and Have I Got News For You star Paul Merton will be discussing their biographies.
The Bookfest’s a great chance for those looking for a fabulous day out – and you could even take the kids! As well as this, there are film screenings and even a sports night with Olympic rower Katherine Grainger.
Any money raised will be reinvested into next year’s festival, so make sure you snap up a ticket fast before they sell out. The festival runs 3-12 October in various venues around Wimbledon, including two tents on the Common. Tickets are from £7.50.
