It was all fun and games at the Wimbledon 2015 Champions’ dinner, as Serena Williams and Novik Djokovic became the first tennis stars to dance officially since 1976 – when Bjorn Borg and Chris Evert took to the floor.
The pair received a standing ovation from guests at the London Guildhall – and Djokovic revealed that while he suggested the idea to the All England Club chairman, Serena made the final decision to dance to Night Fever, the Bee Gees’ classic seventies hit.
Serena Williams became the oldest ever Wimbledon champion – and moved a step closer to achieving a calendar grand slam, which is when a player holds the titles for the world’s four main tournaments in one year.
Williams beat Garbine Mugurnuza 6-4, 6-2 to win the tournament for the sixth time, with Djokovic beating Roger Federer to claim the title for a third time.
