A Wimbledon pub is offering a full turkey roast and beer free to anyone who is alone on Christmas Day.

The Alexandra pub in Wimbledon Hill Road appears keen to reach out to anyone who finds themselves on their own on December 25th.

The establishment was praised on social media after staff made the offer via Twitter: “If you’re alone on Crimbo day, don’t be. Come to the Alex, we’ll give you a FREE turkey roast & buy you a beer. No strings, just come.”

A Wimbledon pub is offering a full turkey roast and beer free to anyone who is alone on Christmas Day.
Public response to the tweet was such that the pub was trending on Twitter in the UK.

General manager Mick Dore, said: “We just thought it would be a nice thing to do.

We will make a fuss of them, make sure they are well fed and sit and have a chat and a drink with them.”

He continued: “No one wants to sit and eat dinner on their own at Christmas. Hopefully at the very least we can give them a nice day.”

The pub has received support from their regular customers and suppliers, and donations have helped make it possible to offer the free Christmas dinner.

Dore is keen to amass a good crowd on Christmas Day, and has been in contact with local organisations and churches to publicise the offer of the free meal.

Not only will those who take advantage of the offer receive a meal, but they will be able to make new friends in a friendly environment.
