Transport

It is easy to forget that Wimbledon Village is just seven miles from central London. Not only that, the journey to Waterloo Station can be completed in less than 20 minutes by train. Alternatively, the London Underground District Line offers a direct connection to Putney, Earl’s Court and beyond.

The A3 sits nearby, offering quick routes to Surrey and the M25 (20 minutes). Central London locations like Victoria take about 35 minutes by car, while Heathrow Airport lies 45 minutes west.
• Bus: Several routes serve the Village, with the 93 running to Putney (20 minutes) and the 200 connecting to Raynes Park (15 minutes). Night bus N87 operates from Aldwych through Wimbledon to the Village. The 493 links to Richmond (40 minutes), while other services connect to Tooting and Morden.
• Train: Wimbledon station, a 15-minute walk downhill from the Village, offers South Western Railway services to London Waterloo (17 minutes), Clapham Junction (7 minutes), and Kingston (10 minutes). Trains also run to Surrey destinations like Guildford (35 minutes) and Woking (25 minutes).
• Tube: The District Line from Wimbledon station reaches central London spots including South Kensington (25 minutes), Victoria (30 minutes), and Westminster (35 minutes).
• Tram: The London Trams network connects Wimbledon station to Croydon (25 minutes), running through Mitcham and Morden.
• Cycling: Protected cycle lanes run along Parkside toward Putney, while quieter residential streets offer safe routes toward Richmond Park. Dedicated bicycle parking stands exist throughout the Village, with secure storage at Wimbledon station.
• Walking: The Village’s elevated position means walking downhill to Wimbledon town centre takes about 15 minutes, though the return journey uphill proves more challenging. Pleasant footpaths cross Wimbledon Common toward Richmond Park and Kingston.

Parks & Recreation

World class sport is all around you in Wimbledon, including two of the biggest global sporting events to enjoy. The All England Lawn Tennis Club hosts the Wimbledon championships annually. A walk or cab ride will take you to the famous gates of the grounds of the All England Club, where the championships take place at the end of June into July each year.

The other famous sporting occasion starts in Putney; the Oxford and Cambridge boat race. You can stand toe to toe with the rowers as they take their vessels from the boathouse in Putney to the river, before they row 4 miles to the west at Mortlake.
