A Plea for your Help: Kingston Young Carers

Over the last couple of years, Robert Holmes & Co has been proud to support Kingston Young Carers.

This is a fabulous, independent charity, based in Kingston-upon-Thames which supports over 800 young people under the age of 18 who look after, or help look after, someone at home who cannot cope without their help due to illness, disability, fragile mental health, or substance misuse. Kingston Young Carers provides these children with support, a safe space and fun experiences where they can be themselves for some time, away from their responsibilities at home.

Kingston Young Carers A Plea for your Help

Young carers show an incredible amount of resilience, maturity, independence and life skills, but are among the most disadvantaged children in our society with many experiencing poverty, poor physical and mental health and lower academic attainment. By offering the right support we can help them achieve their potential.

Local need and demand are at an all-time high for KYC services. They are now supporting eight times as many young carers than ten years ago with stretched resources and little further financial aid. Competition for funding is fierce and successes are not always guaranteed. Recently the Young Carers Project was unable to secure some key funding which may compromise their service.

On November 2, 2024, Chessington World of Adventures will be hosting the annual conference for Kingston Young Carers, to celebrate their individual successes and the contribution they make to their families. The conference will also raise awareness and promote the services of the charity.

How can we all help?
